Manufacturers to review MAS future

Share | |

West Midlands manufacturers are being asked to give their views on the work of the Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS) after a recent review of the organisation’s activities was published by DTZ. The government is seeking comments from manufacturers in the region about how MAS will be run in the future.

The government recently pledged to invest £50m in the advisory service over three years from March 2012.

A review into the service by DTZ stated the organisation has played “a significant role” in helping businesses to grow. The report also said that the more in-depth the intervention with MAS, the higher the impact was felt on the business.

According to the DTZ report, if MAS did not exist, “no other service/product in the market could currently deal with the very technical nature of many requests from manufacturers currently dealt by MAS”.

Manufacturers are now being asked to have their say on how the organisation should go forward. Views are being sought on a variety of topics, and should be put forward by 16 February.

Between 1 April and 31 December 2010, MAS-West Midlands helped more than 2,000 companies to improve their operations.
