Butterfly Hotel Group saved with buyout
Two West Midlands hotels have been acquired after their Birmingham-based parent company was bought out of administration. The Holiday Inn Express Castle Bromwich Hotel and the Best Western Himley Hotel in Dudley have both been purchased by Akkeron Hotels, saving 55 jobs across the two sites.
The two were saved after the demise of Birmingham-based, Butterfly Hotels, was announced last week.
Butterfly Hotels operated properties mainly across the Midlands and East Anglia.
Akkeron Hotels bought the company for an undisclosed fee from joint administrators John Kelly and Nigel Price of Begbies Traynor. Overall, 200 jobs were saved with the buyout, which includes ten properties.
Surrey-based Akkeron already owns and operates 26 hotels, including the 56 bedroom Westmead Hotel in Birmingham and the 56 bedroom Roman Way Hotel in Cannock.
Nick Greaves, sales and marketing director at Akkeron Hotels, said: “The Ramada Holiday Inn Express Castle Bromwich Hotel and Best Western Himley Hotel in Dudley are good solid businesses that were hampered by the debt of their parent company and we have been able to act quickly to safeguard their future.”
“From the customer’s perspective, it will be business as usual but the management will benefit from the support of a wider group and the businesses will have the funding required to trade properly. Our aim is to ensure that the only changes will be improvements in service and facilities.”
