Pinsent Masons advises Better Capital deal
The Birmingham team at law firm Pinsent Masons has advised private equity specialist Better Capital on its acquisition of the advisory businesses of Santia. South Wales-based Santia, formerly a part of the Connaught group, was rescued from administrators KPMG.
The sum of the deal was not disclosed.
Santia Advisory employs about 700 people across the UK and provides health and safety consultancy, training services, occupational health, asbestos management, food safety, information services and supplier and vendor accreditation to a wide range of customers.
Private equity giant Better Capital said that it aims “to unlock the enormous potential within the advisory businesses through a commitment to additional investment”.
Better Capital specialises in investing in businesses with the potential to grow over a three to five year period. The company is quoted on the main market of the London Stock Exchange and its market capital now exceeds £235m. The acquisition was completed through Better Capital's investment vehicle, BECAP Fund LP.
Pinsent Masons' inter-office, cross-practice team was led by restructuring partner Alastair Lomax, corporate partner Andrew Hornigold and senior associate Peter Soliman.
Lomax said: "We are delighted to have advised on this deal which provides a great opportunity for Santia's advisory business to be recapitalised and to fulfill its potential."
