BWB kicks off £1bn regen scheme
Coalville-based developer Barratt/Wilson Bowden (BWB) has submitted two planning applications in relation to the £1bn regeneration of Basildon town centre in Essex.
BWB was chosen last autumn as the developer of the 25-year scheme.
BWB, a joint venture between Barratt Developments and Wilson Bowden, has submitted a full planning application for land at a swimming pool site that will become available when the planned sporting village opens in April. It is also applying for outline permission for land currently occupied by the park lake and bowls club.
The first phase of development will see the creation of 156 new family homes and a “city park” with lake.
The finished development will involve 560,000 sq ft of new retail and leisure space, up to 580,000 sq ft of new offices, and 1,900 new homes, as well as a hotel, college and civic facilities.
