Hotel revenue falls in Nottingham
Hotels in Nottingham experienced a revenue per available room (revPAR) fall of 1.2 per cent to £31 during 2010, according to business advisory firm Deloitte. Research conducted by STR Global also shows the average daily rate for a hotel room in Nottingham fell by four per cent year on year.
The average daily rate for a hotel room in the city fell from £52 in 2009 to £50 in 2010.
Occupancy did increase slightly, up by 2.9 per cent from 59.6 to 61.3 per cent.
Alistair Pritchard, tourism, hospitality and leisure partner at Deloitte in Nottingham, said the results were “disappointing” for the city’s hotel sector.
He added: “After what has been a tough year for everyone in the tourism, hospitality and leisure sector it is disappointing, although not totally unexpected, to see a decline in both revPAR and average daily rates among Nottingham’s hotels.
“There were, however, some positive signs with occupancy levels rising slightly at the end of the year, which tends to lead to ADR increases in due course. So, hopefully, this is an indication that 2011 will be more positive for Nottingham’s hoteliers, albeit still very challenging.
“With future demand for hotel rooms in both London and the regions beginning to weaken, caution may well be the buzz word for next year.”
