Savills completes £2.1m auction

More than £2m has been raised through a property auction held by Nottingham-based property agent Savills. The auction, held at Nottingham Racecourse, included lots based in Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.

Several Nottingham-based terrace houses were sold, as was a telecoms mast at the Cat and Fiddle near Buxton. Earning just over £24,600 per annum, the mast was sold for £228,000.

Acting on behalf of British Waterways, Savills sold Newark Lock House at Mill Lane, a former lock keepers home in a riverside location.

Chris Charlton, auctioneer for Savills, said: "This is an excellent result, particularly in light of the rather gloomy economic figures released earlier in the week. These figures prove the resilience of the auction market locally. Savills continues to deliver for many clients during 2010 as Nottingham's leading auction house.”
