William Davis to work on Stratford scheme

William Davis has won a contract to begin work at a £4.6m social housing development in Stratford-upon-Avon. The Loughborough social housing specialist has signed a deal with developer Orbit Homes.

The scheme on Glebe Road, which will be part-funded by the Homes and Communities Agency, is to build 57 homes that will be available for rent. They will replace 38 existing concrete homes.

It is the first contract awarded to William Davis under a new framework agreement agreed with Orbit Homes, the development arm of Coventry-based Orbit Group.

The project will encompass five phases, with the first set to commence imminently. The entire scheme is scheduled for completion in December 2012.

Chris Jones, Midlands’ development director at Orbit Homes, said: “This scheme will see the regeneration of Glebe Road, replacing unity houses, which are no longer fit for purpose, with new eco-homes. We are looking forward to working with William Davis on this scheme as one of our newly appointed framework contractors.”
