Midlands law firm Harvey Ingram has agreed to merge with Milton Keynes-based firm Borneos. The deal will create a business with a £20m turnover, said Harvey Ingram, which has offices in Birmingham and Leicester.

The merger is due to be formally completed on 31 January 2011.

The new firm will trade under the names of Harvey Ingram Borneos in Milton Keynes, Bedford and Newport Pagnell, and Harvey Ingram in Leicester and Birmingham.

It will create a new regional law firm with a £20m-plus turnover and nearly 400 staff based at five sites. Both firms emphasised that no jobs would be lost through the merger.

Harvey Ingram managing partner, Simon Astill, said: "The two firms are a superb fit thanks to their complementary services and client commitment. Over time, the merger will help us to create new opportunities for our clients and staff."

Stephen Holmes, Borneos’ chief executive, said: "The merger will position us well to invest even more heavily in delivering high quality, value for money legal services across an extended geographic region for the benefit of our clients."
