Premier Screw factory sold
Leicester property agent Andrew and Ashwell has sold a former engineering factory in the city. The former Premier Screw factory, which had lain derelict for more than four years, will now be demolished and redeveloped after being purchased by Gill Knitwear.
The 53,000 sq ft factory premises went on the market last September.
The new owner Paul Gill, managing director of Gill Knitwear, said redevelopment of the site was “still under consideration”. He added that the company aimed to demolish the site to clear the way for a future scheme.
He said: “Once we saw the Woodgate site we were pleased to be able to complete within a week. Time will tell if it will bring dividends, but it certainly offers an excellent opportunity for a new and rewarding development.”
Malcolm Grayson, director at Andrew and Ashwell, said: “This is a prime city brownfield site providing substantial scope for development, close both to the city centre and main routes out of town. It should provide the new owner with a sound investment for the future."
The sum of the acquisition was not disclosed.
