IML increases efficiency after Yorkshire Bank deal

Nottinghamshire-based IML Labels and Systems has invested £40,000 in a Vectra Turret rewinding machine after receiving backing from Yorkshire Bank's South Yorkshire Financial Solutions Centre.

The company said it was eyeing further technological acquisitions to increase its efficiency.

By replacing manual rewinding of labels, IML said the Vectra Turret machine had reduced lead times.

Managing director Shaun Higgins said: "Our business has considerable expertise and, after successfully winning new contracts in the UK, Europe and Middle East during the last 12 months, which have increased sales by 10 per cent, the acquisition of this machinery is the latest in a series of planned technological acquisitions as part of moves to enhance efficiency and widen our services."

IML, which was acquired in 2001 by Ken Cook, has a turnover of more than £3m and 48 staff divided between its base in Sheffield and its factory in Shirebrook, Nottinghamshire.
