MCS in the driving seat for McLaren job
A Warwickshire construction company has begun work on a showroom for the latest McClaren sports car. MCS, based in Claverdon, will create the McLaren Birmingham complex on behalf of retailer Rybrook Holdings.
The site will be built on Stratford Road in Hockley Heath, where the new McLaren MP4-12C will go on sale.
The vehicle is the first in a range of high-performance sports cars from McLaren Automotive.
The 15,000 sq ft dealership will be created on the site of a former Jaguar showroom. It will host both McLaren and Rolls-Royce models.
Warwick-based Rybrook Holdings is one of three McClaren retailers in the UK, and represents McLaren Automotive as McLaren Birmingham.
MCS, which has created about 150 motor dealerships across the UK, described the contract win as “a major piece of business” for the company.
Managing director Keir Edmonds added: “It’s a fantastic opportunity to be working for a locally-based company on a prestigious global brand.
“We worked closely with the firm, assessing the site options and were able to start the work very quickly to allow for a planned opening in the first half of 2011.”
