Energy park set to be launched

Plans for a low carbon business park have been unveiled by Nottingham City Council. It is hoped the site will boost the city’s economy by creating jobs and attracting inward investment.

The "energy park", to be located on Blenheim Lane in Bulwell, hopes to supply competitively priced power and heat to co-located business units.

Deputy leader of Nottingham City Council, Graham Chapman, said: "This energy park will maintain our unique position as the UK's most sustainable city whilst boosting the local economy through the creation of jobs which is one of the council's top priorities."

To launch the project, representatives from a range of private sector organisations are being invited to an event on 28 January at the council's headquarters at Loxley House.

The council said that “in order to minimise cost and risk” it was taking a “phased approach” to developing this project. After reviewing the feedback from the event, the council will issue a Prior Information Notice (PIN), providing further details about the project.

A decision on the best means of progressing the project will be taken following a full evaluation of the expressions of interest and other market analysis later in the spring, said the council.
