Young has a wealth of first hand knowledge of business and academia working together. He was formerly director of the Warwick Innovative Manufacturing Research Centre.

Well-known Midlands entrepreneur Angela Maxwell, OBE, will be one of his fellow panellists at the event, to be staged at The Great Hall at the University of Birmingham on Friday, 28 January. Maxwell is a director of strategic consultancy business Acuwomen as well as being an advisory board member at Birmingham Business School.

Dr Tim Dafforn, a business development manager at the University of Birmingham, will also be on our panel as will Ian Marshall, pro-vice-chancellor of Coventry University.

This Question Time-style event is a platform to discuss how academia and the business community are working together at the moment and to look at ways in which the relationship can be strengthened for the good of the regional economy.

Issues likely to be discussed at our event include consultancy services, research and development, grants and courses, the worth of MBAs and workplace learning.
