Barclays Corporate has appointed two relationship directors in its Birmingham corporate team. The bank said the recruitment of Matthew Porter and Andrew Budenberg was a continuation of its expansion in the Midlands.

Porter and Budenberg have taken up the positions of relationship director, and will join the team specialising in providing finance solutions for the region’s largest companies.

Porter joins Barclays from BNP Paribas where he was responsible for running a portfolio of the bank’s largest corporate customers. He spent the previous 13 years playing a role in establishing and growing Fortis Bank.

Budenberg rejoins Barclays, following a stint at AIB Capital Markets. He previously worked for Barclays in the North West region until 2007.

He said: “I am thrilled to be back with Barclays at a time we are looking to grow our market share and build upon the great success the team has achieved to date.”

Richard Craven, head of Birmingham at Barclays Corporate, said: “Barclays is committed to excellence in the large corporate sector and the wider corporate finance arena. Andrew and Matthew’s appointments are testimony to this and will enable us to develop our business further."
