Bluesky signs university deal
Coalville-based Bluesky has signed an agreement to supply its aerial survey and 3D mapping data to the academic community. The deal was made with Eduserv, which provides technology solutions for higher education.
The agreement with Bath-based Eduserv covers Bluesky’s archive of its most up-to-date aerial photography covering the whole of England, Wales and parts of Scotland. The company will also supply its ‘height data’ which is used for creating 3D computer maps.
Under the agreement Eduserv is to promote the Bluesky data to universities and colleges across the UK and Ireland.
Nikki Green, business development manager at Eduserv, said: “Bluesky has invested heavily in research and development and is an early adopter of new technology and therefore can ensure the quality, accuracy and consistency of their geographic data is second to none. This makes the Bluesky data an essential addition to the product range we offer.”
Rachel Tidmarsh, managing director of Bluesky International, said: “This agreement gives us simple, cost effective and trusted route into the academic market. Geographic data, such as our aerial photography and height models, has a diverse range of applications within this community supporting classroom based learning and field work and providing valuable intelligence and resources for research in study areas such as environment, planning and architecture to name just a few.”
