East Midlands hotelier James Blick has been appointed chairman of the Institute of Directors' (IoD) Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Branch. He succeeds lawyer Murray Macnab, who has chaired the branch for six years.

Blick, who owns the Finesse Collection of hotels, said the voice of the IoD is “a significant one in times of change and challenge”.

He added: “In order for the cogs to start churning at their usual rate, the road for business has to be managed well and this we should keep at the forefront of our minds. I look forward to working with members and the regional team to uphold the core values of the IoD and enhance the strength and voice of our region even further to ensure improved commercial prosperity.”

The Finesse Collection owns The Lion Hotel in Belper; Donington Manor Hotel, Castle Donington; the Lace Market Hotel in Nottingham and the Cathedral Quarter Hotel, Derby.
