Nylacast takes on Texas and fires up for Leicester recruitment
Engineering company Nylacast has announced plans to recruit more than 40 engineers at its Leicester base. The recruitment drive comes as the company revealed the opening of a new office in Houston, Texas, as part of wider expansion plans. The company, which employs about 400 people, said that the growth strategy was aiding its ambitions to become a world leading engineering polymer supplier.
The company said that the employment drive was necessary after securing “a number of particular projects with Multi-National conglomerates”. The rise in demand for its engineering services has “established the need for more skilled engineers to join an already growing and skilled work force”, said Nylacast.
Nylacast said that the recent recession had forced it to “re-evaluate” its strategies, to ensure that new market demands were met.
In conjunction to its UK expansion plans, the company has also opened a new office in Houston, Texas.
Developing its offshore, oil and gas industry, Nylacast opened up its fourth base in Texas. The company also has operations in Pensylvania and South Africa. Flavio Olivarez will head up the latest US base.
Olivarez has served in various engineering and management roles in the petrochemical, aluminum, construction, oil, gas and offshore industries over the past 30 years. He is a registered professional engineer in the state of Texas and has held that distinction for more than 25 years.
Mussa Mahomed, group chief executive officer, said: “The diversification in markets and applications has seen Nylacast grow and expand with our loyalty to all of our customers now starting to pay off dividends as we now have a real opportunity to make a difference to the prosperity of the local community and UK PLC. These are exciting times for us.”
