Buckby joins MACE board
A Nottingham solicitor has been appointed to the board of the Media Archive for Central England (MACE). John Buckby, of Berrymans, will join board members including the senior development director at Rolls-Royce and ITV’s programme editor.
Leicester University-based MACE is a moving image archive service provider, and one of eight publicly funded regional film archives.
Buckby is a creative industries and intellectual properties (IP) specialist at law firm Berryman.
He works alongside regional organisations dedicated to the creative industries, including UK trade and Investment, Nottingham Creative Network and Creative Industries Network in Derbyshire. Buckby also holds monthly ‘legal clinics’ for creative businesses at various creative hubs across the Midlands.
The MACE board is tasked with creating and maintaining the regional archive for the Midlands. Buckby joins a board line-up which includes MACE director James Patterson, and chairman and senior development executive at Rolls-Royce, David Rose.
Mike Dolan, programme editor of broadcast at ITV, and the BBC’s head of UK regional archives Gary Campbell are also members.
Buckby said: “It’s an exciting time to become involved with a successful regional film archive. MACE is a progressive and forward-thinking organisation, and is very well regarded in the industry.
"I’m really looking forward to working with MACE more closely, and continuing to advise on relevant legal issues - including the licensing in and out of archive material and the exploitation of new media. It’s a perfect fit with the work we do in Berryman’s TMT team.”
