TMG Corporate flies high with revenue leap
A business travel company based in Leamington Spa said it has seen a “huge leap” in trade compared to its 2009 results. TMG Corporate experienced a 25 per cent increase in turnover in 2010, but company director Guy Dunwoody has warned the uncertainty of the market is “a potential problem”.
TMG, which is based in Dormer Place in Leamington, said it is planning to expand its workforce with the appointment of up to five new travel consultants in the next few months.
The travel specialist said turnover has leapt by almost 25 per cent in its end of year results for 2010, and experienced a rise in trade of more than 50 per cent in some months.
Guy Dunwoody, a director of TMG Corporate, said: “In the past, the business travel sector has acted as a barometer for the economy and we are hopeful this will again be the case.
“We were the first sector to feel the effects of the recession, and were also the first to come out of it, so we are hopeful our strong finish to 2010 is an indication that 2011 will be more positive for business.”
However, he said that although the company was planning on expanding, it would proceed with caution.
“We intend to take on new consultants but, as with everyone else in all sectors, uncertainty of market is a potential problem with the rise in VAT and expected public sector job cuts,” said Dunwoody.
