Restaurant chain TGI Friday’s is set to create 80 jobs when it opens an outlet in Derby's Westfield Shopping Centre, it has announced. The 210-seated eaterie will open in late February.

The American restaurant chain has begun its recruitment drive and has already appointed Darren Furnell as the manager.

The fit-out of the unit will begin later this month, with the aim of opening at the end of February.

A spokesman for TGI Friday's said: "We are delighted to bring the TGI Friday's name to Derby. This continues TGI Friday's strategy of investing in prime locations.

"We hope to release more details about the restaurant in the next few weeks."

He added that the chain had been looking to open an outlet in Derby for about five years, before agreeing terms on the Westfield site.
