Office take-up on the up in Birmingham
The final figures for total office take up in central Birmingham during 2010 show the number of deals which took place increased by 31 from the 2009 results. The amount of space leased also rose slightly compared to the previous year, according to research from Birmingham Office Market Forum.
Overall, 141 deals were completed in 2010. This compares with 110 deals in 2009 and 120 in 2008.
The total amount of space taken rose from 657,280 sq ft in 2009 to 668,392 sq ft in the last year. However, the number of agreed leases has dropped by almost a third compared to the peak period of 2008, during which 959,317 sq ft was let.
Quarter three of 2010 was the period which scored the largest number of completed deals. Forty-six units were let, compared with 40 in the first quarter of the year, 29 in the final quarter and 26 in the second.
