Somerset Housing launches rebrand

A Shropshire business specialising in the delivery of affordable housing has launched a new brand identity for 2011. Somerset Housing will be known as Saxonby UK from tomorrow (5 January).

Director Andrew Copson said the rebrand was launched after confusion surrounding the company’s misleading connection with the county of Somerset.

He said: "As the business expands and we bid for new contracts it needs to be clear that we don’t carry out work only in Somerset, but for housing associations and local authorities throughout the UK. Therefore, we’ve commissioned a complete makeover, where the new name, brand and messages will be incorporated into brochures, signage, advertising, business stationery, voice mail and the website."

The company was established in 2007. Copson said that the ethos behind the new brand identity can be traced back to Saxon times.

"Saxon longhouses were traditionally built as timber framed buildings from sustainable materials, providing the community with warmth, strength and security. This matches our own business ethos and is how we arrived at Saxonby."

“Working in partnership our aim is to support community regeneration and provide training opportunities for local people in the villages, towns and cities where we have affordable housing developments under construction”, he said.
