Morrisons plans approved on Calthorpe Estate
Supermarket giant Morrisons has secured planning approval for a new retail and office development on The Calthorpe Estate, close to Five Ways in Birmingham. The city council approved plans for the development which will create up to 300 new jobs.
Property developer Calthorpe Estates also secured planning permission for five further independent retail units and office space.
Richard Allen, chief executive of Calthorpe Estates, said: “We have been working with Morrisons for over a year. The outstanding design and high quality materials will deliver exceptional shopping facilities and much needed new amenities for the area.”
James Brook, development director for Morrisons, added: “The new scheme follows our latest energy efficient store model, whilst the design integrates with near-by buildings. We are looking forward to progressing the scheme which will regenerate an important gateway to the city and provide excellent retail facilities for Edgbaston and commuters.”
The Morrisons scheme will commence next year, said Calthorpe Estates.
