University flies high with airport scheme
The owner of Coventry Airport has teamed up with the city’s university to offer a long-term work experience programme to students studying aviation management. Patriot Aerospace said the move was a “natural development” between the two parties.
Twenty-year-old Marco Ng, who is in the second year of his aviation management degree, will combine his studies with a 12-month work placement at Coventry Airport.
Ng is the first student to be selected and he will be focusing on business development opportunities.
Marc Watkins, business development manager at Coventry Airport, said: “We have launched a formal work placement programme with Coventry University because it is important we give proper work experience to the next generation entering the industry.
“I am sure the next 12 months will prove valuable to Marco and ourselves as he finds out more about the industry he wants to specialise in.
“We are now fully open for business and operational again and are concentrating on attracting business jet traffic, freight and potentially future airline operations.”
