Kennedy Tower to transform into hotel
Planning permission is being sought to convert Birmingham’s Kennedy Tower into a hotel, as revealed by Insider last month. Developer Bruntwood has requested planning permission for a 224-bed hotel with conferencing facilities.
Plans have been submitted by Bruntwood and Sanguine Hospitality, which recently revealed plans for a Marco Pierre White resteraunt and hotel to be built in The Cube development in the city.
Pete Crowther, development director of Bruntwood said, “We believe in investing in the fabric of our cities to make them more vibrant places to work and live – we see facilitating a quality hotel as an investment for Birmingham.
“We remain completely committed to our future in the city. We will be re-investing this capital and will continue to build our presence by acquiring more sites and by expanding our office portfolio in Birmingham.”
Subject to planning permission being secured, Sanguine will convert the former office block in Birmingham into a 224-bed hotel with conferencing facilities.
Simon Matthews-Williams, chairman of Sanguine Hospitality, said: “We are delighted to be involved with a third hotel scheme in Birmingham following the success of Hotel Indigo at The Cube and Hampton by Hilton. This will be a much larger project but will again involve an international brand.”
