NEC and Alibaba join forces

The NEC, Birmingham has signed a sponsorship deal with Alibaba.com, the small business e-commerce company. The venue’s Piazza visitor and business centre now features Alibaba.com branding and workstations linked to the online platform.

Alibaba.com staff will be on-hand during business-to-business trade exhibitions to provide advice and support for visitors looking to develop a new business, grow an existing company overseas, or learn more about the potential benefits of international trade.

NEC managing director Kathryn James said: “By continuing to develop commercial opportunities such as these we are creating a service that provides visitors, exhibitors and organisers with everything that they need to do business direct from The NEC, in turn enabling us to deepen our understanding of our customers and tailor the services that we offer to their needs.”

Alibabab director Maggie Choo said: “The NEC Birmingham is a premier industry venue that hosts numerous major trade shows across a variety of key vertical markets throughout the year and there is therefore a natural link with the Alibaba.com platform.”
