Mobile Fun in sales boost

Birmingham-based mobile accessory retailer Mobile Fun has boosted its sales by more than 50 per cent. In its interim results for the six-month period ended 30 September 2010, it says sales reached more than £4.5m.

This was a 52 per cent increase from the same period in 2009, the company reported.

During the six month period, the mobile accessory company reported an increase in orders of 63 per cent, which it attributes mainly to its primary website, MobileFun.co.uk.

Its German website, MobileFun.de, accounted for 9 per cent of the order growth and new French website, MobileFun.fr, launched in July 2010, accounted for 18 per cent. The development of GearZap.com, an online retail website for iPad, netbook and laptop accessories, was responsible for 12 per cent of the growth in orders.

Anthony Cook, founder and chairman of Mobile Fun, said the launch of several major new devices, including the Apple iPad, enabled the company to capitalise on new opportunities.

He said: “We continue to maintain a positive outlook for the year ahead.”
