Law firm Shakespeare Putsman, which recently merged with Berryman in Nottingham, has appointed a new partner to its family law team. Matrimonial solicitor Christine McVay joins from Bristol-based firm Barcan Woodward.

Previous to working for Barcan Woodward, McVay was a solicitor at Harrogate firm Stowe Family Law for five years. She also spent five years as head of family law at McKeags of Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

McVey said: “Shakespeare Putsman is a vibrant and ambitious firm that is really going places and I am very much looking forward to working with the team and playing a part in fulfilling its plans for growth.

“The private client team has an excellent reputation and the family team is respected for its high standard of work and client service, and has a strong presence in Birmingham and across the region.”

Kevin-Harris James, head of familiy law across the offices, adds: “The arrival of Christine, coupled with the recent appointment of Emma Gibson as an assistant solicitor, solidifies a first class family law team commensurate with an expanding and progressive law firm. These are exciting additions to the team.”
