Cobbold takes over at De La Rue

Tim Cobbold, chief executive of power supplier Chloride, is to join Basingstoke-based banknote printer De La Rue on 1 January as chief executive and executive director.

The company was left without a chief executive in August when James Hussey left in the wake of problems with banknote production.

More recently the company has been in the news again after turning down a takeover bid from French rival Oberthur last week.

Cobbold had been with Chloride since 2007 and earlier held a variety of senior roles with Smiths Group.

Nicholas Brookes will resume his position as non-executive chairman and Colin Child will revert to his group finance director role.

Brookes said: “Tim’s wealth of experience, including of international business at the most senior level, will be invaluable."

Cobbold said: "I look forward to demonstrating De La Rue's fundamental value by building on its core strengths as an independent company and growing value for its shareholders."
