Chamois rescued from administration

Share | |

Chamois Eco Kitchens, which entered administration last month, has been rescued by Carleton Furniture Group. Carleton has acquired the name and assets of the Wolverhampton-based company, and has guaranteed the safety of six jobs.

West Yorkshire-based Carleton Furniture Group said that more employees may be hired as it plans to expand the kitchen maker over the coming years.

The sum of the deal was not disclosed.

Director David Wood, now co-owner of Chamois Eco-Kitchens, said: “Chamois was a pioneer in the production of high quality environmentally sustainable kitchen furniture and we intend to build on that heritage. Around 80 per cent of the materials used in Chamois production are recycled timber, which is significantly higher than rival manufacturers.

“Minimising environmental impact is a major concern for our business and for our customers in the housing sector.”

Chamois’ parent company, Chamois Furnishings, collapsed in November, putting 57 jobs at risk.

The company’s co-founder, Andrew Jones-Dutt, will stay on in the role of divisional director, leading the sales, estimation and surveying team from its Wolverhampton office and showroom.
