Notts Council to discuss office sale plans
Plans to reduce Nottinghamshire County Council's office estate from 23 to five will be discussed on Thusday (9 December).
Officials hope the consolidation, as part of a raft of proposals in its Ways of Working programme, will save £2m a year.
As part of the preferred option, offices will be kept at County Hall and Trent Bridge House in West Bridgford; Lawn View House, Sutton in Ashfield; Sherwood Energy Village and Worksop Library. The County Hall CLASP extension block will be demolished.
A recent study found that a third of the council's desks and meeting rooms were not fully used each day and the new plans will leave seven workstations for each ten employees, rather than the current 1:1 ratio.
Councillor Martin Suthers, deputy leader at Nottinghamshire County Council, said: "Much of our office space is underused and not fit for modern working arrangements.
"This programme forms part of ongoing work to find the £150m of savings that the council needs to make over the next three years, £65m of which will be reinvested in crucial services such as those which protect children at risk and care for older people.”
