Diamond result for D-Drill's African project
D-Drill, a diamond drilling and sawing specialist, has completed a project in Africa inside six days. The Shilton-based company has transformed a guard wall around consulate offices in Libya as part of an £80,000 assignment.
The job involved a four-strong team of master drillers cutting the top off a 500m high, 400mm thick wall in capital city Tripoli to enable infra red security cameras to be installed.
D-Drill’s Ray O’Connor said: “This was a really lucrative job as security is obviously of paramount importance to the Libyan government and this was very different to projects we have worked on before and the speed and accuracy the team worked at really was superb.
“The company has completed projects all over the world but this is the first time we have been to Libya so it’s another country to tick off the box.”
The company has also recently completed other high profile projects in Australia, Russia and Belgium.
Managing director Julie White added: “Although D-Drill has been well established across the UK for some time we are always exploring ways we can increase our international presence.
“This is an increasingly thriving area of the business for us and it was great to move into the North African market by winning a really prestigious contract and for the project to go so well.”
