BiTC takes on new East Midlands director
Business-led charity Business in the Community (BiTC) has appointed a new regional director for the East Midlands. Heidi Watson takes on the role having worked for both an international business and a national charity at senior management level.
Watson has spent the last ten years of her career managing programmes which support disadvantaged people, including running work programmes for long-term unemployed people.
On joining BiTC, she said: “Now, more than ever, society needs businesses to lead the way in helping to solve the problems of the communities that surround them and demonstrate a responsible approach to the environment, their marketplace and their workplace.
"BITC is the perfect vehicle to help businesses achieve these goals and help communities benefit from the support of businesses. I am delighted to be joining BiTC at a time when, as an organisation, their work is most needed and I look forward to contributing to a role I feel very passionately about.”
Patrick Mallon, field director at BiTC, said “I am very pleased to have found someone with a proven track record in campaigning which, mixed with a passion for environmental and social equity, makes Heidi a truly exceptional appointment. Heidi will work to expand our reach throughout the East Midlands to address the most pressing social and environmental issues.”
