Christmas market cancelled in Lincoln

Weather conditions, described as "unprecedented", have led organisers of Lincoln’s Christmas market to cancel the event. However, despite the decision to terminate the market, Lincoln Business Improvement Group (BIG) chief executive Matt Corrigan has said that the city is still “open for business”.

Corrigan said the city’s businesses were “terribly disappointed” that the event had been called off.

However, he added: “But I want to remind everyone that there so much to still enjoy in Lincoln over the festive and New Year period. We hope people will turn out in force, enjoy our wonderful Christmas lights, make the most of our niche shopping and pick-up some great food and gifts from our farmers and craft markets.

“People can enjoy the special ambience of late night shopping every Thursday in the run-up to Christmas and lots of families, friends and business parties are looking forward to having a great time on the Lincoln BIG Ice Rink, which features a 'real ice' experience from now right through until 2 January.”
