Law firm Cobbetts has been appointed to the legal framework for the Renewable East’s Low Carbon Development Initiative. The firm is one of only two asked to advise on the panel, which is concerned with the off-shore renewable energy agenda for the East Midlands.

The Low Carbon Development Initiative (LCDI) supports low carbon development and knowledge transfer to the commercial and residential property sector.

Cobbetts will give advice relating to low and zero carbon construction development, planning and environment, financing, corporate and commercial, construction and community schemes. The firm has been appointed to the framework until 31 March 2012.

Paul Johnson, commercial partner at Cobbetts, said: “We are delighted to be part of the LCDI framework, as it offers us the opportunity to work with some of the region’s most innovative architecture, engineering and technology businesses. This appointment is a credit to our growing low carbon practice, which continues to set the bar for innovative legal services in the renewables sector.

“The East Midlands is a hub for innovation in green technologies, and LCDI provides a strong support structure for further development of low carbon commercial and residential property projects. The work done by this organisation is of strategic importance to the government’s long-term sustainability targets, and we look forward to supporting the organisation.”
