VDL drives expansion after JLR win
VDL Steelweld, based in Warwickshire, has secured an order to provide production automation systems at one of Jaguar Land Rover’s West Midlands plants. The automotive industry supplier said the “significant” contract was its largest to date.
VDL said it is now looking to expand its UK operations and increase its workforce after winning the contract to supply parts to the Coventry-based car giant.
The company, which is part of Dutch-owned VDL Group, has previously completed a number of other projects for Jaguar Land Rover, including the production systems for the all-aluminium Jaguar XJ at the company’s plant at Castle Bromwich, Birmingham.
The company has also secured orders from BMW, Ford and Volvo in the past.
Darren Dowsett, manager of VDL Steelweld UK, said: “This order, along with another significant order for BMW’s Mini plant in Oxford, means that we are looking to expand our UK operations by recruiting skilled project managers and project engineers.”
