Langleys advises on first primary academy switch
Lincoln-based law firm Langleys has advised the first primary school in the UK to achieve academy status.
Barnby Road Academy Primary and Nursery School in Nottinghamshire has attained the status following Langleys’ management of the legal administration.
Operating as an academy, the school will be independent of local government control and have more control over its governance.
Langleys, which also has an office in York, said it hoped to help other schools convert to academy status in the future.
Barnby Road headteacher Kevin Eveleigh said: “Langleys is big enough to deal with all aspects of the process but small enough to ensure we were handled consistently, by friendly officers, with clear access and communication to the same team throughout. I do not feel our academy conversion could have been better supported.”
