A historic building renowned for its role in Birmingham watchmaking will go under the hammer next month. Timeworks in Hockley is being offered at a guide price of £250,000.

The property is one of the available lots at auctioneer Bigwood’s next event, being held at Villa Park on 8 December.

Timeworks, a three-storey Victorian building, has a Grade A local listing and is described in the auction catalogue as being “of great character”.

Previously holding a guide price of £550,000, the fee has been slashed to £250,000.

Unit 2 of Astle Park, West Bromwich, a 10,000 sq ft Grade II listed building, is also being put up for auction. It was originally new printing and publishing offices for printing company Kenrick and Jefferson.

The guide price is “in excess of £500,000”. Auctioneers Bigwood warn that the property “needs major refurbishment”.
