Newman to receive £8.5m facelift
A new three-storey building worth £8.5m is to be created at Newman University College, Birmingham. A new entrance site and library will be constructed by the Solihull office of Morgan Sindall.
Morgan Sindall, which has a local site at Waterside Business Park in Solihull, will construct the entrance building which will include library, offices, teaching space, a café and an atrium.
Morgan Sindall’s area director Dave Smith said: “We are thrilled to have been chosen to create an inspiring new learning space for Newman University College. We are confident this exciting development will bring significant and positive benefits to the surrounding area.
“Since the formation of the new Morgan Sindall brand, bringing together our design, construction and infrastructure services, we have been able to offer our customers a more integrated solution and on this project we will be working with our dedicated piling team to help deliver a first-class facility.”
The main building will be constructed in a ‘live learning’ environment, connecting the new entrance to the existing teaching space. In the later stages of the scheme, Morgan Sindall will refurbish existing science and art blocks.
The entire project is due to be completed in January 2012.
