Cornbrook builds on care home project
Construction and building services specialist Cornbrook has secured the biggest contract in its seven-year history. The Shropshire-based company has won a multimillion-pound contract to extend Bradeney House Care Home near Bridgnorth.
The contract win comes after the company announced its annual turnover had grown to £2.2m and it boosted its workforce by 20 per cent.
Cornbrook, which now employs 32 people at its Cleobury Mortimer headquarters, will construct an additional 54 rooms for the Bridgnorth property.
The company will also create and a new courtyard on the premises.
Matt Breakwell, co-founder of Cornbrook, said: “We’ve come a long way since we started in 2003 with nothing more than a van and two men.
“The same principles that were present at the formation still drive the company today – quality craftsmanship, unrivalled levels of service and the flexibility to get a job completed in a timeframe none of our rivals would touch.”
Breakwell founded the company in 2003 with local builder Nick Skidmore.
He said: “What started out as a sub-contract operation doing maintenance work for housing associations is now one of the largest independent construction firms in Shropshire, offering anything from loft conversions and extensions, to commercial refurbishments and school extensions.
“The Bradeney House contract was a huge opportunity for us and means we are now being considered for jobs ranging from £10,000 to multimillion-pound projects."
