D&J Steels buys up rival firm

Share | |

Steel stockholder D&J Steels has acquired a rival brand. The Wolverhampton-based company has bought Woodsetton Steels, its second purchase this year.

Woodsetton will be relocated from its base in Oldbury to join the D&J Steels group in Colliery Road, Wolverhampton. It will also be rebranded under the D&J Steels name.

Chairman of D&J Steels Chris Hutton-Penman said the acquisition was “a marriage that we have sought for some time”.

He said: “In these still challenging times it will create a far more robust company and help us to protect the jobs of our employees. It will also benefit our customers by increasing the steel stock we carry and increase the product range especially in small bars.

"The combined company will also consolidated our position as the largest steel stockholder to the forging industry in the UK and an important supplier to engineering, and oil and gas companies throughout the UK.”

D&J was advised by law firm George Green and Co and financial adviser Crowe, Clark Whitehill.
