Nottingham law firm Berryman has recruited a new partner and head of its commercial dispute resolution team. Marie Evans joins the firm from the Nottingham office of Roythornes.

Evans was lead partner at Royhthornes, where she worked for 18 years. She headed up the company’s East Midlands commercial dispute resolution and corporate recovery/debt recovery teams.

She will now lead the 18-strong team at Berryman.

Berryman chief executive Paul Wilson said: “Marie is exceptionally highly regarded amongst her peers, in her specialist field and across the East Midlands. She represents the first lateral hire by the Nottingham office of the firm since Berryman merged with Shakespeare Putsman on 1 November 2010, and her experience, calibre and expertise typifies the exceptionally high calibre of individuals at the firm.”

Evans said: “Given the recent merger, creating one of the Midlands’ largest law firms operating from three key locations, joining the firm at this time represents a unique professional challenge and opportunity. The firm is focused on growth and expanding the dispute resolution team is part of this plan, not only building on the strength of the firm and its reputation in Nottingham, but also across the region.”
