New finance chief for Fairfax
Leeds-based Fairfax Solicitors has hired a new chief finance officer. Chartered accountant John Webster qualified with Deloitte in Nottingham in 1994 before gaining corporate finance experience with the same firm.
Fairfax says he has subsequently held several finance director roles in North Yorkshire before forming his own consultancy and chartered accountancy practice in York.
Webster said: “Having worked closely with the Fairfax team on a consultancy basis during and since the MBO, I’m delighted to have been asked to join the board. My role will be to continue to ensure we maintain the strong financial management of the firm as it moves through a period of rapid expansion.”
Peter Wordsworth, chief executive of Fairfax, added: “John and I worked very closely together during the MBO and he played a significant role in ensuring the new firm was on a sound financial footing from the outset.
“Maintaining a firm grip on the finances has been a key element of our success to date and will remain so as we continue to grow the business. I know that John will be a valuable addition to the board."
The firm recently expanded its employee numbers from 84 to more than 120.
