Bank deal for CDI Group

West Midlands-based CDI Group has secured financial backing from Yorkshire Bank to expand into the electronic security sector. The network and communications company, which is based at King Norton’s Business Centre in Birmingham, currently employs 97 staff and turned over £6.5m last year.

The company says it is aiming to further strengthen its position in the network and communication infrastructure markets. CDI has been designing, project managing and installating network cabling, network hardware and telephony solutions since setting up in 1987 and has now launched a new security division.

Managing director Chris Arkwell hopes the company builds on its presence in the electronic security sector after enjoying its strongest period in the last eight years.

Arkwell said: “We see the security arm of the business as an area where there is scope for lots of growth and bringing Yorkshire Bank on board will give us the ability to plan for future expansion of the group.

“Having taken the decision to switch banks we had three or four offers on the table, but it became clear early on we liked Yorkshire Bank and they shared our vision for the future of the company and demonstrated support for the plans we have to expand.”
