Thousands exporting from East Mids
More than 4,500 East Midlands businesses are currently exporting goods, according to a new study. The analysis of UK Trade and Investment data by NatWest and RBS shows during the first half of this year, the value of these was £7.1bn, or £38.9m a day.
But that figure is down on the 2009 figure of was £40.34m a day, or £14.7bn a year.
New research by NatWest and RBS reveals 65 per cent of UK businesses believe Asia represents a new market opportunity. The Asia Task Force and NatWest and RBS will host an event in Hinckley on 25 November encouraging businesses to explore opportunities in the region.
David Houghton, regional director of Midlands and RBS director of strategic partnerships, said: "The export market in the East Midlands has a huge and growing role to play in the region’s prosperity, and the importance of Asia in this will increase.
“We’re delighted to support the UKTI Asia Task Force and hope this event encourages more local businesses to make the most of growth opportunities in Asia.”
