It's party time in East Midlands
Christmas party specialist Best Parties Ever says business in the Midlands has not been badly impacted by the downturn. The managing director of the company, which has a venue in Towcester, told Insider his business has seen a 30 per cent growth in bookings for Christmas parties.
Speaking of party bookings in the Midlands, Tim Stevens said: "There's been no much change year on year. It's doing fine. There wasn't much of a negative effect during the recession and equally now there's not much of a boom. We're steady in that area, in what is a crowded market."
But he said the overall desire of businesses to boost staff morale during difficult economic times has had a positive impact on his business, which is headquartered in Surrey.
He said: "We all have our own views as to whether confidence is sustainable but for now there is a genuine and palpable change. There's a feeling that fewer staff are doing more work so they deserve a thank you - and parties are being seen as an affordable gesture."
The company, which now operates at 17 venues around the country and expects a turnover for the year of £10m, is booked to host 398 parties and serve on average 145,000 guests between 26 November and 22 December.
