Staff fears at Groundwork UK
Birmingham-based environmental charity Groundwork UK is considering laying off staff, it has told Insider. Groundwork works with private companies, public bodies and voluntary sector organisations on green projects.
Insider contacted the 30-year-old organisation after a source claimed it was considering "significant redundancies" and would be reducing its UK operations.
Graham Duxbury, development director of Groundwork UK, said: "We are currently reviewing our staff numbers. No decisions have been made as of yet.
"We are in the process of finding out what our forward order book will look like. We are talking about how we can do things differently and I'm not going to say that's not going to involve reorganising or downsizing.
"It's tough at the moment and it's tough for everybody and we are in the position where we work a lot with public sector funding - we have partnerships with central and local government. There's a lot we don't know about (regarding future funding)."
