Recruitment group Sewell Moorhouse is set to expand its executive recruitment business Venturexec into Birmingham, it has been announced. The group hopes to open a new office in the city next year as part of major growth plans.

The group, which has offices in Doncaster, Leeds and Sheffield, is also looking to open an office in London.

Engineering and technical division CKC Recruitment will be rolled in towns such as Chesterfield, Huddersfield and Wakefield, with a target of ten offices in ten years.

Chief executive Cliff Sewell told Insider he expects the jobs market to pick up next year. "I talk to real people on the streets and they are recruiting again," he said.

He expects his company’s workforce to increase from 50 to 250 people over the next five years.

"Within recruitment we are working across every spectrum. Nobody else can supply a business with the whole lot, from the boardroom to packers," he said.

"We will change how we work internally. People will have to change how they work to compete with us. It is a risky strategy and the wheels could come off but we are prepared to give it a go and we will deliver."

He added: "We are going to be one of the fastest growing employers within the service sector in the next two to five years. We are going to give a real opportunity to people coming out of university."
