Sarantel wins defence deal
Wellingbrough-based Sarantel has won a deal to produce military antenna for a "major" US defence contractor. Sarantel, which makes antennas for mobile and wireless devices, has hailed the order as a "very significant milestone".
The company says it will develop a "customised antenna solution" to meet "strict size, performance and weight requirements".
The business added: "The antenna will address an existing and large market, offering higher performance and lower cost than the existing solution."
David Wither, CEO of Sarantel said: "This is a very significant milestone for us, reached with a very important customer. Our entire engineering organisation was challenged by this development and we were able to deliver a highly innovative, high performance solution in a unique low-cost rugged housing.
"This antenna solution opens up a significant new market for the company and we expect the sales of this product to impact materially revenues next year."
