Three former colleagues of Grant Thornton have joined together to form a new Nottingham-based advisory practice called BGB Advisory. It is targeting clients across the East Midlands and South Yorkshire.

The new firm, founded by Bev Cook, Graeme Forbes and Bruce Thornton, is to specialise in advising family and owner managed businesses and professional partnerships.

It aims to provide a range of advisory services including strategic business advice, marketing planning, re-financing or raising funds for expansion, preparing businesses for sale or succession, tax planning, turnaround advice and advising on daily business issues such as contract negotiations and conflict resolution.

Cook said: “What makes us different is that we are creative and imaginative and consider a businesses’ total needs: company, management, shareholders and of course, the owners' individual personal goals. Collectively we have more than 80 years of advisory experience.”

BGB Advisory says it already acts for a number of well known companies. It plans to attract more clients based primarily in Nottingham, Leicester, Derby, Sheffield, Northampton, Newark, Grantham and Lincolnshire.
